Windis

The Windis system

Every water-heated Windis unit is delivered with a pre-programmed Windis controller. One controller handles control, measurement and the building automation interface.

One controller, two product families

Air curtains

Heating mode

The controller keeps the room temperature at the value set from building automation, for example +20 °C by day and +15 °C at night. Fan speed is typically around 20 %.

Door mode

Starts from the door contact's status signal at an outdoor-temperature-compensated fan speed. After the door closes, the unit runs an after-run time, for example 3 min.

Door mode has a higher priority than heating mode. The local freeze protection is always active and cannot be overridden from building automation.

Windis Zero

Windis Zero is a control system for run-around coil heat recovery that works regardless of the air handling unit's make and suits both new-build and renovation projects.

Windis Zero is delivered as a factory-built package: the liquid loop's pump, valves, sensors, expansion and filling group, and insulated piping. On-site installation work is limited to connecting the package to the air handling unit and the building automation.

What the unit measures

Energy consumption is metered per unit.

  • 01

    Heat energy, ultrasonic flow measurement

  • 02

    Water in / out, temperature

  • 03

    Air in / out, temperature

  • 04

    Heating network pressure

  • 05

    Air bubble detection

  • 06

    Freeze risk detection

Adaptive power optimization

Windis Zero IQ

Constant-flow control sets the heat recovery's fluid flow to a single design value, and it hits the optimum only in the conditions that value was calculated for. The optimum moves constantly: the air volume lives, the temperature difference varies, humidity changes the situation and the system ages.

Windis Zero IQ continuously seeks the operating point at which the heat recovery transfers its highest capacity at each moment. No design parameters are set, and installation requires no flow calculation or balancing.

In varying operating conditions, adaptive optimization can typically recover about 5–10 % more energy compared to constant flow.

Windis Zero IQ is an add-on feature of Windis Zero. It builds on Windis Zero's existing sensors and valves.

Diagnostics

Automatic diagnostics identifies fault conditions directly at the unit. Status data is read from the same registers as the measurement data.

Commissioning is done on site in a browser. The unit has M12 quick connectors for external sensors plus Ethernet and USB ports, so the service hatch does not need to be opened during installation.

In development

Windis Cloud

We are developing a cloud service that opens a remote connection to Windis units for the warranty period. Windis Cloud covers both the air curtains and Windis Zero.

Windis Go

We are developing a commissioning app for units equipped with the Windis controller. Windis Go covers both the air curtains and Windis Zero.

The target is to release both during early 2027. We will tell more when the services are ready for release.

For designers, property managers and contractors

For the HVAC designer

Once the product is chosen, specifying Windis takes the same amount of work as using a familiar manufacturer. Windis Select produces the design documents for the selected product.

For the property manager

Energy consumption is metered per unit and shows in the building automation. Diagnostics reports fault conditions directly from the unit.

For the contractor

A standard building automation interface and browser-based commissioning. The contact person is at the manufacturer.

Windis Select

Site-specific sizing is done with the browser-based Windis Select tool. Select produces a sizing report, a functional description, a functional diagram and MagiCAD codes for the selected product as appendices to the design. Choosing the product stays with the designer.
